I entered the early childhood field at the age of 18. Having just graduated with a Diploma in Early Childhood – Teaching; I was eager to step into the classroom as a teacher. Nothing compares to the butterflies a teacher feels when entering a classroom after completing their studies. I still remember the first class entrusted to my care – those five children will always hold a special place in my heart and mind.

One of the key aspects that transformed my journey was the influence of my fellow colleagues. Being young and eager, I was exceptionally keen to learn from their wealth of knowledge. At the same time, I sought opportunities to develop my own skill set and grow as an educator. They were receptive to my ideas and would refine them based on their teaching experience.

This collaboration led to my first curriculum development for the phonics circle time designed for two to three-year-old children. That was truly transformative as it instilled a lot of the “I can do it” attitude in me.

Over time, I taught various age groups and was then encouraged to enroll in an Advanced Diploma in Early Childhood – Leadership. I was exposed to and encouraged to explore different leadership styles and methods, which allowed me to form a leadership philosophy of my own. I was blessed to have worked with multiple progressive teachers who made me feel like a proud team lead.

To supplement my knowledge base, I then enrolled in a Degree in Early Childhood Education with a Minor in Business at SUSS. It was truly inspiring to learn alongside other teachers who were so passionate about the industry. I was able to apply and relate to almost all of what I was learning as I was working and studying part time.

look forward to our new venture, which allows me to connect with more families with whom I can work hand in glove. Secondly, it enables me to connect with like-minded progressive Montessorians around the world. Lastly, it offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the educational journey of children by fostering a supportive and nurturing learning environment.
